Hardcore PvE ftw. But I only focus on one character...

I do not easily tolerate people using that phrase near me. I'm not reacting particularly strongly because you conveniently missed out the "only" word which normally goes with the rest. But rest assured... gaming is important to me.
Life itself is "only a game". It is no more or less important than what happens in the virtual world, and I would quite gladly get into a philosophical argument with anyone who cares to suggest otherwise (be warned: I'm a Nihilist). Nothing is any more important than what you personally ascribe to it.

But what it essentially comes down to is that if I didn't invest a high degree of personal importance in gaming.... then I wouldn't be able to be as entirely calm, collected and indifferent to the rest of existence as I am... and I would probably be locked up in an asylum right now for accusing the government of H4X or somesuch.

I only care about the games. The rest of the world can go shaft itself.
(And games have been going downhill since S*ny got involved... damn their black hearts)...

I've only been playing for a little over six months and I'm not interested in knowing every skill and every profession through and through even though I'm coming up to a 1000 hours. So I guess I'm a casual player in a hardcore timeframe?

I don't care about builds as long as they work and I just like to blaze through the content without having to think too much about what builds to use. So yes, I take my builds from suggested builds by others and just use them.
